Some Metal Gear fans just don’t get the messages you want to convey with your fantastic games and thus act like retards. It’s frankly embarrassing.
It’s not even 100% sure that David Hayter isn’t going to voice Big Boss (and there’s still Solid Snake!), but hey, I’m sure it’s reason enough (for people who have achieved nothing comparable to Kojima’s constant efforts) to insult the man who dedicated his life to create a masterpiece like MGS (although he said MGS2 was supposed to be the final game and oh, how often he said he would guit after MGS4!!!). But he kept going (because YOU, everyone wanted more) and I wouldn’t be the same without the immersive and beautiful philosophy MGS encompasses. I’d be a wreck with no motivation at all! But here I am, a member of Amnesty International now, doing stuff for human rights, for a better future. All thanks to Kojima.
And I’m sure many other feel inspired by MGS. Hell, Kojima said it himself, he doesn’t want your money, he wants your feedback, he wants you to change your life and overcome the hardships. He wanted you to feel inspired, to see hope and opportunity. And here you are, insulting this man, like he totally ruined your entire life. Why don’t show that kind of repulsion to people who really do bad things to you, though? Like seriously, not just on the internet. You can act tough here easily, that’s not a heroic act at all.
I’m sad to see David Hayter leaving (of course) as the voice of Big Boss, if the PRE-E3 statement is final.
BUT it makes sense, think about it. Think, before you insult Kojima.
I know, The Japanese VA is still the same. But don’t you think it’s kind of a privilege that Kojima is going all out to look for a different VA for the English version? Japanese VAs certainly have a wider range of vocals, so to say, they’re super-pro, or something like that.
I don’t want to see David Hayter changing his voice to the point that it sounds weird. He IS Snake (more like Solid Snake, but that’s my personal opinion though), and that’s the problem right there. He defines the character so much, players will fail to notice the difference between SOLID Snake and NAKED Snake. I mean how many of you “hardcore-fans” totally mismatch these two so friggin’ often, although they’re clearly distinctive.
Kojima cares about you. He’s one of the few game-directors out there who doesn’t do half-assed games, who doesn’t care about the expenses spent on developing a game, who will change a small piece of dialogue and re-record it a few days just before the completion of the game, despite some people at KojiPro bitching about it. Watch the MGS4-Making Of and stop being ignorant.
